Hello and Welcome Back to School!
The PTO Leadership Team would like to give you all a warm welcome back to the 2020/2021 school year and a special welcome to the new families joining us across all grade levels.
The Parent Teacher Organization is a non-profit organization made up of parents of MVRCS students who volunteer their time to fulfill our mission. Our goal is to enhance the educational experience of students at MVRCS by subsidizing instructive enrichment programs conducted in cooperation with teaching staff; to provide financial support for field trips and other student group activities; and to foster a sense of community and cooperation among a diverse student body by sponsoring social gatherings and events aimed at bringing students, parents, and teachers together.
We know this year is off to an incredibly strange start and that COVID has presented many challenges and tough decisions for families. It’s so hard to know what to do. We’ve had to make hard choices based on personal and professional circumstances, safety, state guidelines, and the ever changing information surrounding this horrible virus.
We want you to know that we hear you. We know and understand your concerns because we are parents and caregivers, too. And, we will make our best effort this school year to continue to provide enrichment activities for the kids, parent events, recommended resources to support you and your students, and of course, teacher appreciation initiatives.
These programs may look and feel different this year due to the inability to gather, but thanks to an ever-growing list of virtual options, we believe we can still live up to our mission and support the MV community. While fundraising is a regular part of our activities as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and we still welcome family or community business donations at any time, we will hold off on formal efforts to raise money this Fall. We are looking towards early 2021 to begin raising financial support for our many scholarships, programs, and for an End of Year gift for teachers.
In order to stay informed on all things PTO and a broad list of resources and opportunities, we invite you to join our mailing list and check out our Facebook and Instagram pages for regular updates! Our monthly newsletter and emails are chock full of information, and we want to make sure as many of you as possible are getting the latest news.
To stay connected, visit our website at www.MVRCSPTO.org and click on the SUBSCRIBE option. Or, email “Subscribe” to Outreach to receive our mailings. Our email list only reaches about 500 people, but we know that the MV community is much bigger. Please encourage your grade-level parent and caregiver networks to subscribe and help us reach the full MV community! The PTO is a separate organization from the school and the leadership team does not have access to the email address lists held by the administration due to privacy considerations. Help us grow the list by subscribing directly!
Now, more than ever, it’s so important that we come together as a community, try to put aside our differences of opinions, and support each other. Each one of us is experiencing the events of the past six months differently–many are under duress and many are facing instability. We encourage compassion, sensitivity and above all, kindness to our fellow MV Eagles families.
Remember, a united parent community is stronger together. Let’s do our best to boost each other up and get through this together.
Stay tuned for upcoming information.
All the best,
The PTO Leadership Team
